Update #2: Kevin Love doing his thing. Cavs defeat Celtics 102-99.
Now that was some season opener! Other than the terrible injury suffered by Gordon Hayward in the beginning and the Cavs’ decision to not run a video tribute for Kyrie Irving, all in all, the game did not disappoint. And, of course, watching Kyrie Irving’s handshakes with his former teammates was something else. Nothing but respect. Until next time!

You know what today is? That’s right ladies and gentlemen; it is 2017-18 NBA season opening night with Cleveland Cavaliers hosting the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors hosting the Houston Rockets. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of months, it’s going to be one exciting night considering all the drama that’s been going on this offseason, especially if you’re a Cavs fan.
It all begins… Tuesday October 17th on TNT! #KiaTipOff178pm/et: @Celtics/@Cavs 10:30pm/et: @HoustonRockets/@Warriors pic.twitter.com/Wemkqjg5rR — NBA (@NBA) October 14, 2017
I’m still recovering from the day when Kyrie Irving asked to be traded — and ultimately got what he wanted — and today’s Cavs vs. Celtics game would test some grounds for sure. Judging from Irving’s recent comments, it looks like he has been enjoying his time so far in Beantown. Who knows, maybe there will be a shift in perspective after watching his video tribute. It should be noted that both sides have downplayed the supposed feud between James and Irving in public.
With a revamped roster and changes to the starting lineup, including Dwyane Wade joining his ex-Miami Heat buddy James, the question of team cohesion will most likely come up depending on how things play out throughout this season. Not to mention, James has been nursing a sprained left ankle this preseason, but it seems like he is resting up to be ready for the opener and is hoping to back on the court.
Hopefully I can be Ready to get it going tomorrow night. So excited to have one of the greatest guys on and off the court with us. #TheLand https://t.co/BkBG9bv34I— LeBron James (@KingJames) October 17, 2017
So what will happen tonight? Will there be some epic showdown between James and Irving? How will the fans react? Will there be more beef between Irving and his former team? Oh, the suspense!
Questions that have been circulating ahead of this game will either be partially answered or just churn out more questions and speculations down the road. But enough talking, for now, let’s get this game on!
